April Showers, More Draft Towers

Just one sorta-festival this April, but plenty o'opportunities to tip a pint with smiling Philadelphia Brewing Co folks. Here's your run-down:

An Evening of Misconduct
Thu, Apr 10, 7pm – 9pm at Misconduct Tavern, Locust above 16th. Three flavors of Philadelphia Brewing Co. (Two of them beer and one Chris Morris). Drink PBC draft and The Enabler will give you a pint glass!!!

Rowhouse Red and Smoke at McGlinchey's
Fri, Apr 11, 6pm – 8pm at McGlinchey's Tavern, 15th between Locust and Spruce Sts. It's "Bonus Tap" night at McGlinchey's -- Kenzinger AND Rowhouse on tap, thanks to space-age, ice-dependent technology. Hearken back to the days of filtered and unfiltered cigarettes, grab a luxurious liverwurst sandwich, and fill your innards with beer priced (as always at McGlinchey's) TO MOVE.

Main-Line Johnny
Fri, Apr 11, 5pm - 7pm, PBC Brewer - John Rehm @ The Beeryard · 218 East Lancaster Ave · Wayne, PA. John Rehm will pour Philadelphia Brewing Company brews at The Beer Yard. Legend has it; he may also heal the first four customers that can pronounce his name properly - backwards.

Psonic Psychic at Brownie's
Thu, Apr 17, 7pm – 9pm Brownie's, 2nd between Market and Chestnut. How well do you know d.j. pipe dope (a.k.a. the Enabler, a.k.a. Chris Morris)? He's going to play classic rock from 1965-1970, songs you've all heard, and if you guess the next track, you've got yourself some serious prizes, courtesy of PhilaBrewCo. Lots of prizes and cheap PhilaBrewCo beers along the way. And no bullshit music, either.

Meet the Brewers' Cousins @ Bridgid's
Mon, Apr 21, 6pm – 9pm Bridgid's. Make your way upstairs to meet those responsible for four flavors of 19125 beer. Let yourself go, indulge in flirty ale-related chit-chat, and enjoy free Dean Browne back rubs! (Don't forget the scented oils!) One-of-a-kind beer souvenirs for all!

Beer Sampling- 8 Days of Eats
Tue, Apr 29, 4pm – 5pm The Shambles @ Head House - 2nd & Lombard (you know, that big brick thing-a-ma-jiggy that ya gotta walk through whilst staggering between The Dark Horse and The Artful Dodger). Kick0ff to the 8 Days of Eats! Come sample great food from great restaurants in the South Street area and drink some great Philadelphia beer! What a great way to spend a beautiful spring night...outdoorsy like.

Philly Beer Week Might be Over BUT -

It's always Philadelphia Brewing Week!

And the Philadelphia Brewing events just 'a keep on keepin' on - we just can't stop!

It's a screaming-brain double header of his-story and blurred vision this weekend. Join our own, Chris Morris - The Enabler - at the lovin'est beery basement in the city, Sugar Mom's Church Street Lounge for the Barleywine deal of the year: the original, often imitated, never replicated, un-real ale festival - SPLIT THY SKULL Saturday 1:00pm til your head implodes or 6:00pm whatever comes first. And remember, don't even think of driving to this one or else you know what'll happen; that's right - the whole thing with the angry flesh-eating Canadian again. You've been put in the know. Shame if you haven't been there yet but Sugar Moms is at 225 Church St in Old City between 2nd and 3rd - just follow the bouncing beer geek.

-next-

On the same day (Saturday March 22) at Philadelphia Brewing's home sweet home, expand yer brainy beer powers by attending Rich Wagner's first presentation in our (almost) revitalized tasting room. This time around Rich will present "Philadelphia Brewing Co. - Then & Now". A retrospective of the history of the name Philadelphia Brewing Co in all its glory. Rich's presentation starts at 2:00pm. Free to all - beer sampling included.

PBC Happenings - Feb 24 - 31

Two events this week, hope to see you there!

Friday Feb 29. 6:00pm - Grey Lodge Georgian & Revised Julian Calendar Promo!

Friday Feb 29. 7:00pm - Benefit for John O'Brien

Friday Feb 29. 6:00pm Grey Lodge Georgian & Revised Julian Calendar Promo!

The name says it all...come celebrate having an extra day to drink...and it's a Friday...Yippee! There will be beer and leap year goodies galore. And here's some leap year facts before you come - you never know when some trivia might pop up.

The Revised Julian calendar adds an extra day to February in years divisible by four, except for years divisible by 100 that do not leave a remainder of 200 or 600 when divided by 900. This rule agrees with the rule for the Gregorian calendar until 2799. The first year that dates in the Revised Julian calendar will not agree with those in the Gregorian calendar will be 2800, because it will be a leap year in the Gregorian calendar but not in the Revised Julian calendar.

This rule gives an average year length of 365.242222… days. This is a very good approximation to the mean tropical year, but because the vernal equinox year is slightly longer, the Revised Julian calendar does not do as good a job as the Gregorian calendar of keeping the vernal equinox on or close to 21 March.

Friday Feb 29. 7:00pm Benefit for John O'Brien

John O'Brien, former tender/opera impresario at 700, member of the Enabler's "Customer Hall O' Fame" and all-around mentor to many, needs a friggin' break, already! A $20 donation gets you $1 beers (including the super-fresh debut of KENSINGER draught), raffles and prizes, a d.j., and dinner (wine also served at reasonable rates). Tickets available at 700, (700 N. 2nd St., in Northern Liberties.) or if you track down Chris Morris at chris@philadelphiabrewing.com or (215)427-BREW
